As we approach the end of summer and welcome the first day of Autumn, we want to keep you informed about some important updates and upcoming changes in our community.<\/p>\n

Community Updates:<\/b><\/p>\n

       Sprinkler Systems:<\/b> We are finally done with this project and want to thank you for your patience with us during this time.<\/p>\n

       Google Fiber Installation:<\/b> We’re excited to announce that Google Fiber is coming soon! The installation has been complete and we hope to see you at our Pooch Plunge this Friday from 3-5 where Google will be here to answer any questions and introduce the service to you.<\/p>\n

       New Roofs:<\/b> New roofs are now being installed and we THANK YOU for your continued patience.  We are working as hard and fast as we can to have this complete no later than October 31^{st<\/sup>. <\/p>\n}

LOOKING AHEAD TO SOMETHING LIVE & LOCAL<\/b><\/p>\n

With fall comes football, and with football comes the fun of tailgating with family and friends!<\/p>\n

But before we get to dishing the goods on tailgate goodies, the Villas at Carrington Square Idea Specialists™<\/a> want to talk about having some other kinds of fun in and around Overland Park.<\/a><\/p>\n

It seems like there’s always something FREE to do in Overland Park! Amission to the Arboretum<\/a> is free the first Tuesday of every month (always a good outing with nani and dadi!). Then, the third annual Hawkotberfest at Bluhawk<\/a> is coming up Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. For FREE, the entire family will get to enjoy hayrides, face painting, balloon artists, inflatables, magic shows, and live music!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

For something a little different, check out the International Lineman’s Rodeo<\/a> Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Overland Park Convention Center, beginning at 7 a.m. This free admission event attracts the best linemen from around the world to compete in events like the pole climb and the hurtman rescue (based on traditional job tasks). Hmm….maybe somebody in the family might be interested in this as a profession?<\/p>\n

POPULAR GAMEDAY GOODIES<\/b><\/p>\n

Now, back to football!  We know all of KC is rooting for our beloved 2 time back-to-back Superbowl Champs, the Kansas City Chiefs.  If you have the chance to attend a game at Arrowhead (GEAH) Stadium, we absolutely think it will be the experience of a lifetime.  You may see Taylor Swift although you may have a better chance of seeing her from the comfort of your apartment home at Villas at Carrington Square.  Either way, you’ll want to make sure to have plenty of tasty treats on hand to satisfy family and friends.<\/p>\n

PICKLES & VEG<\/b><\/p>\n

Google for gameday goodies and you’ll find that pickles are really hot this fall—especially when you serve them cold in this Duke’s Mayo Pickle Dip.<\/a> The Idea Specialists™ love the idea of putting this on burgers and hot dogs, using it for a different kind of chicken nugget sauce, and of course just eating it on some chips or crackers. Soft drinks, waters, beers, and spritzers are all cooler staples. Treat your guests to a little something extra with some restaurant-style mango lassi,<\/a> which you can make ahead in a large lidded pitcher or non-glass beverage dispenser for easy transport. Masala & Chai has recipes for some other drinks<\/a> that are sure to be crowd-pleasers (like the ice pumpkin cream chai latte!).<\/p>\n

No time to get in your Villas at Carrington Square chef’s kitchen<\/a> before the next get-together? No worries! Ruchi Indian Cuisine on Antioch Road<\/a> has an incredible catering menu,<\/a> with plenty of veg and non-veg options, chutneys, and homemade pickle (yes, we’re back to pickles again!). And, of course, gulab jamun for dessert! Yummy!<\/p>\n

GAMEDAY MUST-HAVE<\/b><\/p>\n

The Villas at Carrington Square Idea Specialists™<\/a> know from experience that while it’s all fun and games on the field, collegiate and pro stadiums don’t play around when it comes to fan do’s and don’ts. One of the biggies is making sure that any bag you take in with you meets guidelines.<\/p>\n

These days you can go to Amazon and spend about as much or as little as you’d like on a bag. The ET website has the skinny;<\/a> the Specialists are going with the imminently practical LOXOMU crossbody bag.<\/a> (But this acrylic WJCD bag<\/a> that comes in SO many colors and has a removable chain looks like so much fun!
